What is the Roadless Rule?

Since 2001, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule has protected millions of acres of undeveloped National Forest lands from roadbuilding and logging. These wild areas are not only critical for clean water, wildlife habitat, and climate stability—they also provide priceless opportunities for outdoor recreation, solitude, and adventure.

What's at stake?

The 2001 rule currently applies to nearly 45 million acres of inventoried roadless areas. Now, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins is moving to eliminate protections, putting these pristine public lands and over 25,000 miles of trails at risk.

You have the power to make a difference—it only takes a minute!

Make your comment even stronger by adding a personal or local connection—why does this matter to you? Roadless areas exist in nearly every state—see the full list.
