Indigenous Cultures
The foundation of the Kahtoola Philanthropy Program is built on the idea that the preservation of indigenous culture and heritage benefits humanity as a whole. Kindness, generosity, and the sharing of knowledge from generation to generation are hallmarks of these communities, and the positive potential and wisdom of the people who inhabit them have a lot to offer the wider world. Unfortunately, much of that culture is being eroded as community members are compelled to leave in search of better living conditions and greater economic opportunities. This is a loss for those communities and for all of us.
We’re committed to doing what we can to help indigenous people remain closer to home by investing in organizations that—through community-based initiatives—work to improve sanitation, access to healthcare, clean water, education, and economic opportunity while putting respect for local culture and the environment at the forefront.
