Danny Giovale – Founder
Danny Giovale founded Kahtoola in 1999 and is the president of the company. Passionate about the outdoors and equally so about designing and making outdoor gear, he is closely involved with the product development and daily activities at Kahtoola. He enjoys mountain adventures and spending time with his wife and kids. He loves a bad pun and is sometimes found laughing at his own jokes.
Laura was born and raised in Flagstaff, AZ. and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, so it was only natural that she found her way into crunching numbers at Kahtoola. Her adventures have taken her all around the world, from skiing in Chile to snorkeling in Greece. In the summertime she enjoys spending time with friends and paddle boarding with her dog Curly (yes, Curly rides on the paddleboard!). She is passionate about all things winter and especially loves skiing, and can be found on the local mountain every chance she gets.
Hilary has lived in Flagstaff, AZ since 1989. Moving to Flagstaff gave her an incredible love for the outdoors and being outside as much as possible. So when she got the opportunity to work for Kahtoola starting in 2006, she jumped at the chance. In her spare time Hilary enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and their two dogs Skye and Annie hiking, and playing ball.
Chris was born in California, and raised in Phoenix, AZ. After graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design, he headed straight to Kahtoola where he does product design and engineering. He has fun spending time with his wife Sue and their two dogs, Sadie and Spock. Although Chris enjoys just about every outdoor activity, he favors climbing and backpacking, and especially loves exploring the Grand Canyon. He also enjoys traveling and so far has made trips to Brazil, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Austria, Italy, and two trips to China.
Stew was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois then later moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend Northern Arizona University. After college, Stew moved to Portland, Oregon to start his career in the outdoor industry but then later found himself back in Flagstaff, the town that he loves. When Stew isn’t busy at Kahtoola HQ, you can find him exploring the sandstone slot canyons of southern Utah, running the rivers of the Southwest in his duckie, searching old mines for rocks and minerals, or cooking up a feast at home for his friends and family.
